NEW WEB UTILITY PREVENTS GETTING LOST ON THE WEB
(New York, NY - April 10, 1998) - The wennie factory announces the preview release of SurfSerf, a software product that graphically captures how a user surfs the world wide web. As the user jumps from site to site, SurfSerf faithfully records and maps out the surf session in an visually manageable fashion. SurfSerf helps a user recover from having gotten lost while surfing the web by displaying, in an intuitive yet complete manner, all the sites visited and all the branches taken.
“One of the biggest problems with surfing the web is that you can so easily become lost,” says James Wen, founder of the wennie factory. “The major browsers offer history lists which fail to capture the twists and turns of a complex, hypertextual web. SurfSerf breaks out of this linear world and shows the web in a form that more closely resembles a real, physical network of connected sites.”
In addition to its graphical site and link mapping features, SurfSerf features a full linear history list and the ability for the user to add annotations and comments to the sites visited.
